| -Why should philanthropist's invest in Venus and not some other theatre company? As revealed by its productions and the artists, actors, producers and other talents involved, Venus works with contemporary and important issues. Its productions shed light on matters affecting individuals and society. Not only does Venus entertain, it educates. It gets noticed and it gets TQ- talk quotient. Its management is smart and socially savvy. Randall gives audiences forces to be reckoned with and in the business of theater, this strategy goes a long way toward success. -What is the specific value of what is done here? Venus fills an important niche in today's fast-paced culture, where critical discussions and thinking are often set aside because people are caught up in life. Venus works with new and emerging voices, in addition to big names in theater and the arts. Venus not only entertains, it educates. Again, in a fast world, this is vital. Its ability to take issues of depth and produce these into marvelous performances that AFFECT audients makes Venus an important and EFFECTIVE company. -How has it affected artists and viewers over its short lifetime so far? More to the point, in your artistic involvement with Venus, in what positive way have you been altered or grown? Working with the individuals involved in Venus has given me hope for our culture and a venue in which to share my interdisciplinary artistic voice. I am one who believes that an artist can affect an audience by making effective art. Naturally, what an artist wants is not always exactly what the artist gets as interpretation may bring new and/or different light to a work. AND, this is equally important. Any performance, any art work, that prompts discussion about important issues affecting society and culture is EFFECTIVE. Venus' record attests to its effectiveness as a company of artists that entertains and educates. |
